Subject: Recommendation for LSTouchData
We are a world-class original equipment manufacturer of steering components for the
automotive industry. Before LSTouchData, each day we had each employee hand write a
production ticket explaining how many hours they worked in each work center and labor
code. This information was then recorded on spreadsheets by each supervisor for
production records, then sent to the payroll department to reenter all this
information in our payroll system to pay the employees. Then accounting would
receive the information and use it to be entered into the General Ledger.
Today, the employees enter their hours, work center and labor code into LSTouchData.
The LSTouchData information is then used to feed all information to Payroll, Production and Accounting.
On the average, it took approximately 5 minutes for employees to fill out their production tickets.
It now takes approximately 3 minutes for employees to enter their information into LSTouchData. We have totally eliminated:
- Supervisors having to reenter information into spreadsheets,
- Payroll having to enter production ticket information for payroll and
- Accounting having to enter information into the General Ledger.
It is almost embarrassing to realize how much time we had been wasting with these duplicate entries.
Granted, as we went through the project, many changes had to be made to the entry process
in order to get the time to the 3 minutes it now takes for employee entry. The people we
worked with were very responsive, listened to our ideas and many times came up with even
better ideas to make the process quicker.
Another thing we learned about LSTouchData as we went through the project was this: Its main
function is to collect data and it does a great job of that. It does not create reports,
however, you can easily take information out of LSTouchData and use it in Excel, Access or
even BPICS (MRP/Accounting Software). Our IS department found it easy to work with in
exporting information to these software platforms.
We highly recommend the LSTouchData system as a way of collecting data for whatever you need.
It is efficient, their support is excellent and responsive; it has helped us reduce many hours
of entry and reentry that cost us thousands of dollars each month.
